About the Position:

Reporting to the Collective Care Manager. The Burmese Language Community Coordinator provides direct support to Burmese-speaking community members, from helping to apply for public benefits to securing housing to accessing local medical care. The  Burmese Language Community Coordinator is a part of a team of multilingual Coordinators, and works with other RCP staff to support organized, effective, and community grounded programming.

 

Essential Duties:

 

Direct Community Support

Maintain, support, engage, and connect with Burmese – speaking community members
Provide direct support to  Burmese – speaking community members as they seek community services and opportunities, and navigate challenges.
Support Members in navigating language barriers at appointments.

Program Operations & Performance

Ensure Member data is kept updated and accurate in RCP’s Salesforce Database.
Register members interacting with RCP in the Salesforce system.
Work with Collective Care Manager to increase effective outreach to potential community organizations and resources.
Collaborate with other community coordinators to identify and support priorities of RCP members
Collaborate with the Organizational Learning Manager to support the goals of RCP’s Community Research for Health Equity project.

Member Relationship Management

Work in partnership with the other RCP staff to schedule and host events such as community conversations, women’s group, family fun days and other RCP activities
Work with Co-ED, Programs & Community Initiatives and Collective Care Manager  to strategically implement programs and initiatives that are in line with RCP’s organizational goals.
Onboard new families into RCP’s programs, ensure their Salesforce profile is accurate and up-to-date, and that they are plugged into the correct programs.
Collaborate with program staff to problem solve issues that arise, using an “empowerment” approach that includes families in their own problem solving and decision-making
Actively distribute information on available resources for the community in the Hives (in audio and visual formats)

Relevant Skills & Qualifications:

Welcoming, warm, and approachable personality
Bilingual in Burmese and English
Able to maturely and thoughtfully navigate conflict
Understanding of structural racism and socioeconomic inequity, and eagerness to learn and grow
Experience working with people from diverse racial, ethnic, socio-economic and religious backgrounds
Excellent listening skills and exceptional communication skills, with an ability to comprehend and respond empathetically to the concerns of others
Flexible and adapts easily to spontaneous changes in plan or direction
Confidence and comfort facilitating group conversations and meetings
Ability to make and follow through on a work plan, utilizing sharp problem-solving skills, and strong organizational capabilities
Creative, comfortable taking initiative, and works well independently
Emotionally intelligent, self-aware, and able to receive and provide constructive feedback
Reliable transportation
Great sense of humor  😀

Salary
This is a full-time position salaried at $40,000/year.

RCP additionally offers a stipend to employees with bilingual skills and/or who have lived refugee/migrant experiences between $1.500 – $3.000/year.
